The "No One Cares What You Wear" Experiment

Happy Wednesday! I started to think of why I always feel the need to buy something new, when I already have something so similar in my closet. I have a problem with always being in search of the perfect item. This means I’m always looking for the perfect pair of jeans, heels, or just white t-shirts. It has to have the right fit and the right material. I just don’t get it. I want to get out of this cycle so bad!

I hate that feeling of staring into my closet and feeling like I have nothing to wear (which is everyday) so I decided to take a look into my closet and figure out how to solve this problem I face each morning.

The solution I’ve come across quite often is that you need to “shop your closet.” When I hear that phrase I just think of how boring that would be since I know that all of my clothes are not new anymore, and I wouldn’t get that same feeling of happiness when I rip tags off of new clothes. I have a ton of clothes, and I’m really ashamed to admit just how many pairs of jeans I have that all look so similar.

Why do I need 10 pairs of skinny jeans? Or 7 pairs of cropped black workout pants? Why do I keep incessantly wanting more and more?

I decided to do a little experiment.

I called it The "No One Cares What You Wear" Experiment.

I’m sure many of you have worn the same clothes multiple times before right? How about two days in a row? Did anyone notice?

At work we have a pretty casual dress code. I may have mentioned it before but I wouldn’t get in trouble for wearing yoga pants or flip-flops, I tend not to wear these items since I think that I wouldn’t be taken as seriously if I showed up looking like I just rolled out of bed.

I wore the same pair of jeans three days in a row and then I wore the same top twice in a row. No one seemed to notice. Cool!

After that, I tried wearing the same leggings two days in a row. Every single time, I wore the same pair of boots with each outfit.

After that week, I asked my coworkers if they noticed that I was wearing the same outfits. They all said no. I guess people don't really judge me by what I wear.

The funny thing is that I have this Lululemon jacket (the concord grape Stride jacket for all you Lulu fans), and I wear it occasionally. I don’t wear it often, but everyone seems to notice when I wear it. Apparently I can’t get away with wearing colorful clothes as often as the more neutral items. My coworker even made fun of me and said, "Do you only own one jacket?"

I know it may be different if I worked in a different office or if I worked with more fashionable people, but it kind of slapped some sense into me that I have ZERO need to buy new clothes right now. I have no urge to go to the mall to just “browse” and I don’t get excited at the emails I get from stores mentioning HUGE sales.

For now, this tactic works and I’ll be re-wearing a lot of clothes more often.

PS. Don’t worry I wore lots of deodorant and sprayed perfume on in the morning.
PPS. I would only re-wear clothes if they aren’t dirty.

PPPS. Clothes that I sweat in always get washed after one use.

Do you wear clothes multiple times before you wash them? How about several days in a ROW? What’s the longest you’ve worn something without washing it?

Good day! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from
an established blog. Is it very hard to set up your own blog?

I'm not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I'm thinking about creating my own but I'm not sure where to begin. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Thank you
